The Universe is defined by the Encyclopaedia Cosmosica as, simply, "everything".
Finite but unbounded, the Universe consists of a uniform continuum of four dimensions—three spatial and one temporal. 14 billion years after its creation in the Big Bang, it had expanded to over 10 billion light years in diameter and contained 100 billion galaxies. After 100 trillion years, it exhausted its supply of matter needed for stellar formation and began grow dim as its existing stars consumed themselves until it reached a state of maximum entropy, a.k.a. "heat death". The Immortals have hinted that at this point, they would simply restart it.
